You are Peter and on this rock I will build MY church and the gates of hell shall NOT prevail against it. - Matthew 16:18Prince Rillianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06704687575506560687noreply@blogger.comBlogger183125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487267871591767423.post-65999230547395611372012-07-05T19:38:00.001-06:002012-07-06T12:52:15.697-06:00Yet Again I Return From a Long Absence (and a poem)HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I have overcome my absolute laziness had am writing a post on this blog! Hallelujah, praise the Lord, and so on and so forth. I will not say that I'm back and I will not say that I will post regularly. This is to avoid the penalty of saying that which is I never post again for months.

Sometime next month I will post snippets of the scripts for the scenes I'm writing for my heavily theatrical summer camp which I've talked about before called Arcatheos (our video is up at www.Arcatheos.com) I probably will also post movie trailerish snippets leading up to the camp. (A highly dramatic line or two changed and then taken out of context and such.) Also, questions are allowed and encouraged about the faith, philosophy, and such things.

Meanwhile, here is a spur of the moment poem I'm making up as I go along. Think of it as a present in reparation for my not posting for eternity-and-a-half

I like to eat yogurt.
Her name is Lindsey Stirling and she is breathtakingly good. Instead of me rambling on about how good she is, here are some of her music videos.
Thomas Colins. A Canadian! He was formerly the Archbishop of Toronto. Now he's a Cardinal and must be adressed as His Eminence. An interesting fact about him is that before he came to Toronto he was the Archbishop of Edmonton, where I live. Who knows, maybe he'll become pope? ;)

Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine, Feb 14, 2012 / 03:24 am (CNA).- A church in the Ukraine that Soviet authorities once seized for use as a “monument of communism” will once again be a place for Christian worship after renovations remove a neo-classical façade erected to disguise its nature.

“The church does not look like a place of worship. It wears a mask, as it were. It is in disguise. We want to take away this mask,” Fr. Grzegorz Romanowicz, the Franciscan Capuchin provincial in the Ukraine, told the international Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need.

“Until now, many people do not even recognize the building as a church from the outside.”

St. Joseph’s Church in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine is now in Catholic hands after a 20-year-long ownership dispute. Franciscan Capuchins now have pastoral care of the church, and the last stages of restoration are underway.

Since 1949 the church was used as a library, a boxing hall and offices. Soviet authorities erected the façade in 1949 to hide the building’s origin as a church. That façade is set to be removed later in February.

Fr. Romanowicz said the church was originally seized to serve as a “monument of communism.” Since the confiscation, the façade has acted like “a gag on the Church” that forces it into silence.

“Now the Church seeks to win back its identity.”

The Catholic Church moved to reclaim the property after the government promised in 1988 to return all religious property which had been confiscated. The building’s then-owner, Dugsburry Inc., contested a ruling that the Catholic Church was the property’s rightful owner.

The dispute even turned violent when security guards physically attacked believers, including elderly women, who were peacefully demonstrating for the property’s return.

The ongoing disagreement led to neglect of the building. Its roof was removed, exposing 130-year-old frescos to the elements. A 2006 arson also caused major damage. The property was legally recognized as church-owned in 2009, but other bureaucratic problems kept repairs from being made.

Aid to the Church in Need has given grants of about $185,000 to the church restoration project. It believes the building is important to pastoral work in the area.

Dnipropetrovsk is the third largest city in the Ukraine. It is within the Catholic Diocese of Kharkiv and Zaporizhia. The diocese serves about 60,000 Catholics, about three percent of the local population.

When was the last time that you met a sculptor? If you live in Canada particularly, when was the last time that you saw a real nicely designed building? How many new books are coming out that are moral and enjoyable? There are art forms that are slowly slipping away from our society, because so much is at our finger tips we don’t need to make the effort to become artists. Perhaps I better begin by showing what the definition of an artist is.

We don’t seem to need creativeness , and we don’t seem to need to even create things. Everything is already created, and we just have to type it into our search box to find it. There are some art forms that seem to be done more then others. People still seem to have some interest in sketching, and I don’t think that a passion to write something will ever die out completely. But will those people who are challenging their minds actually finish what they have begun? Will they send out their works as a gift that others may enjoy them? I don’t know, but they should finish. We need people who finish their work. Just because that way they can develop and grow. If they finish their work then there will be another piece of art to be created. Singing is fairly popular, but what kind of singing is it? The beautiful sweet clear voice of a woman is discarded. Now we want either voices that yell or that whisper with a breathy annoying sound. That is what the modern world looks for in a woman’s voice. For a man, sad to say, they want it to sound like a woman’s voice. We are losing the power of art. It is changing, and I don’t think its for the better.

I want people to recall those lost arts, because we need them. Everywhere we look things are losing their beauty and authenticity. Sure we have what people have made before us, but these things won’t last for ever. We need to keep on recreating, and not letting out minds fall into a stupor.

Especially as Catholics we need to recall the beauty of the church, we need beautiful paintings, beautiful music, beautiful minds that are challenging themselves, and trying to become better.

Not just an ordinary post saying you should go, you should go, here’s the link. She wants a post describing my experience with Arcatheos. Quite a tall order... These friends of mine sure are picky. :)

Let’s see...Well the #1 thing I love about Arcatheos is the idea that there are all these other Catholic men and boys on the same path of life as me. It reinforces in my head that I’m not alone in the world. That there are tons of other men going through the same trials as me and I have support to fall back on when I need help. Another thing I’ve seen about camp is that it is SUPER INTENSIVE. Especially for the councillors - called officers (for now, we’re working on a better name.) - as they have a couple days before the camp officially starts where they have an excruciating schedule meant to show what they can and can’t do, what they’re good at and what they’re bad at. The really nice thing about this is when I get back from camp, everything seems easier. You could say life is thrown back into perspective. Also, there is an enormous sense of accomplishment as an officer. Especially last year. Last year, the officers helped built the main fortress and we worked on building a fort from scratch. Cutting down dead trees sawing them into size and building walls. It was nice because when you stood back you could say: “Wow! I built this with my own sweat!” Spiritually, it was also terrific as there was daily mass and the rosary and the angelus and morning and night-time prayers and terrific talks to help build us up.

That was generic experiences that probably every officer had. There were also specific experiences that I had. I helped out a lot with the theatrics this year. I helped out with special effects and I managed the costume tent. That was a blast. I also helped with running errands and helping out with whatever. I feel that it really helped me grow as a person and really improved my initiative. What was really nice is that when I got back from camp there was a message on my family’s phone saying how a friend of my family, who was at camp, was impressed with my initiative and how helpful I was. That made my week..*sigh* Nostalgia...Great times...

And that is why I reccomend Arcatheos to almost every boy and man. (If you can’t handle sleeping outdoors under the stars for a day don’t go as an officer. If you can’t handle sleeping in a tent, don’t go at all.)
Well,
That’s all for now...

P.S Anne Therese, the answer to your other comment is: I’d love that.

P.P.S That’s really all for now...Prince Rillianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06704687575506560687noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487267871591767423.post-12607959323465301142012-02-09T14:13:00.002-07:002012-02-09T14:13:46.888-07:00Question #1Yay! My first question! The ever wonderful Anne Therese has asked: "Let’s say that you work somewhere with a really nice person. But they have a habit of once in a while, (a really long while) they use God’s name in vain. Do you say something, or in Christian charity just say quietly to yourself, “Blessed be his holy name.” What do you think? Should we control others in this way?”

In this case, as far as I can tell: I would wait until the person has calmed down - if they are going to use God’s name in vain they probably aren’t at their calmest - and then approach them asking them to try harder to not use His name in vain. Also, you must approach them in the right way. The wrong way would be something like this: “You horrible person! You need to stop swearing or else you’ll burn in hell forever! You disgusting person!” That way is wrong because A: It puts the person down and makes them feel that they are terrible. B: It puts them on the defensive. They might normally feel that swearing is bad, but if they’re being attacked verbally, they might decide to swear just to show you who’s boss. From the sounds of it, there isn’t much chance of the latter happening as you said that the person is really nice.

The proper way to approach them is in a way that makes them feel that they are better than swearing. For instance: “I’ve noticed that occasionally you use the Lord’s name in vain. Would you like me to try to help you stop.” If you do say that you have to be prepared with helpful ideas on how to stop swearing. Another option is to just ask them politely to stop like this: “I've noticed that you occasionally use the Lord’s name in vain. Could you please try to stop.”

If you (the reader) disagree with me in anyway or have another suggestion. Feel free to leave a comment.
There are a large number of complaints about this resolution of course. Some of them asking why is the bible being given preferential treatment to other “holy” books like the Koran. The simple answer lies in the resolution itself. The bible has played a major roll in the shaping of the United States. The Koran very simply put has not.
Sunday Snippets!

Last week, I only had one post. It stated that I have returned to blogging. (How many of these sorts of posts must I make.) Also, it talks about the fact that I am making many changes to my blog. One of which is the change in the title.

Next week I shall for sure have more posts.
Prince Rillianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06704687575506560687noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487267871591767423.post-21931756846650737422012-02-05T00:01:00.001-07:002012-02-05T00:01:29.090-07:00I’m Back yet again (and hopefully for good) & changesI’m back yet again. This time it should be for good. I’m making a bunch of changes to this blog.

When I started this blog I was in a Narnia craze. Everything Narnia. Narnia, Narnia, Narnia. That has gradually worn off. Now, although I still love Narnia, it isn’t the center of everything. So I’ve decided to revamp this blog and make it more streamlined for the modernistic consumer. In words not used by people in marketing to try to sound cool. I’m changing my blog to something else. What is that something else? It is -_--O (That’s a drum rolling by the way (get it? Drumroll?)) Catholicism. I’ve decided to do two things. 1: Write posts answering questions about Catholicism (Serious and not-so serious) 2: Writing my thoughts on issues of today (and tomorrow and the day after and...) 5: I mean 3: Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition (and yes I did just make three Monty Python references. (They are King Arthur’s problem with mistaking 5 for 3, The Spanish Inquisition line, and the other one you can figure out for yourself. (It involves the fact that I said I only had two things and I had three))

Of course, I will also periodically post things unrelated to the above, but I can’t foresee those and tell you about them.

On a related note to the thing 1, I want YOU to send me your questions about Catholicism. Either stuff that you wonder, or stuff that a friend or relative wonders, or stuff that some person somewhere might wonder so you might as well ask it yourself to save him the trouble. Also, let me repeat, non-serious questions are allowed and encouraged. There’s not enough humour in the world and I want more of it. (An example of a non serious question is: Do Catholics believe that Pluto is a planet? To which the answer is of course: Yes! You aren’t a Catholic if you don’t believe that Pluto is a planet as well as a dog. (p.s. That was humour. It is not really my view that you must believe in the planetness of Pluto to be a Catholic.))

On another related note. If you see any mistakes both spleling mistakes (besides that last one. It was intentional to be funyn.) and mistakes in content (for instance if I was to say that the bible was written by Noah one night on the ark when he was bored.) If they aren’t obviously not meant seriously (like my statement about Pluto.)

Also, awhile back, I said that if any homeschoolers or homeschool graduates want me to put out an ad for anything that they do, just say the word.

If you’d be interested in writing a guest article. Be my guest. leave a comment on my blog saying what you want to write about and give me a link to your blog (or if I know you personally just tell me who you are.) and I’ll get back to you on wether or not I’d accept your article.
Some people may be wondering why I’m not posting at all, even though I said I was back just last week. The reason is because of NaNoWriMo. NaNoWriMo is a challenge to write a five thousand word essay during the month of November. As this will probably be very difficult, I’m taking a break from all things involving a computer except for school work and working on the novel. So until December...
The special sees the Time Lord (Matt Smith, 28) crash land in war-torn England. Posing as the caretaker of a creepy old house in Dorset he embarks on a magical mystery adventure with Madge Arwell and her two children, Lily and Cyril. The three have been evacuated from London as the capital comes under attack during World War Two. And there’s plenty of surprises as the Doctor leads them into a new world." Admittedly, it probably won't be just like Narnia, probably not even closely based on Narnia, but the fact that the best tv show to ever come out of Britan might be combined with one of the best books ever is good enough for me.
Prince Rillianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06704687575506560687noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487267871591767423.post-88211120291526163752011-10-18T11:44:00.000-06:002011-10-18T23:17:17.687-06:00SEARCHWell, I said I would but information about SEARCH up and here it is. A Narnia post!Well I was just looking through my recent posts and I realized that *gasp* I haven’t had a Narnia related post in, well let’s just say a long time. So, without further ado: A Narnian themed post.

It would have been better if this post was yesterday. Yesterday was The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe’s sixty-first birthday. Happy birthday Narnia!

In other news, Douglas Gresham hopes to one day of movie versions of every Narnia book. However, it will be a while until the next movie because the contract with Walden Media expired and the Lewis Estate has to wait "several years” until they are allowed to sell the rights to the books. In the meantime, we wait.Prince Rillianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06704687575506560687noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487267871591767423.post-41042921599051712262011-10-17T16:20:00.002-06:002011-10-17T16:20:48.436-06:00Tag!Alright, the ever-wonderful Anne Therese (Creativity) tagged me and so I’m passing it on.

To anyone that I pass it on two, you have to answer the same questions I answered.

1. What can you hear? - I can hear my fingers typing and my IPod playing “Don’t Stop Believin” by Journey
2. What is something coming up that you are excited about? - SEARCH on November 20th in Ardrosson. (What is SEARCH you ask? - The answer will be up soon.)
3. What is your favourite drink besides water? - My favourite drink besides water...hmm..Ah-ha! The Cookies-and-Cream Milkshake from FatBurgers (A quality fast food resturant)
4. What is your favourite place to vist on the web? - I would have to say that my favourite place on the web would be the Council of Elrond forums (A Lord of the Rings forum)
5. Where do you like to wander? - I love to wander and wind my way through forests.
6. How do you unburden? - I unburden by reading a book and thinking or talking with friends.
7. What is your favourite season? - This is the only question for which I don’t have one answer. It’s a toss-up between Fall - for the amazing colours - and winter -for the beauty of snow.
8. Please list two people you want to tag - Alright. The two people I tag are...Drumroll please.....my darling sister Queen Lucy @ The Fords of Beruna and Rebecca @ Living for Christ.Prince Rillianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06704687575506560687noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487267871591767423.post-18651654649665101362011-10-16T12:55:00.001-06:002011-10-23T16:33:50.955-06:00Big But (notice only one T, not two of them)

What is this Edmonton Archdiocese Youth Rally Retreat Thingy you ask (really I'm asking it for you but hey use your imagination) Well it's basically a bunch of Catholic talks aimed and young adults and youth with mass and praise & worship songs. This year, the band that played was FX of Grace. They are a group of teenage boys who got together to form a Catholic Praise and Worship band. They have a single out on ITunes called Dance. I highly recomend it. Also, their first album will be released onto ITunes in TWO WEEKS. That I can also highly recomend as they played some of their songs from it today. For the mass, the band was ___(I can't remember the name right now but as soon as I remember this will be edited.) Then after mass and supper, there was a dance. With a range of songs from the Y.M.C.A to Cadillac Ranch. (Unfortunately, it wasn't a ballroom style dance, but a bunch of us homeschoolers ballroom danced anyway for bit's of it.) Oh, I almost forgot. The speaker for the talks was Michael Chiasson. He was originally from Houston, Texas and moved to Canada only recently. (I'd put when he moved but like so many other things in this post I forgot.) He had two main points. The First: You are AMAZING!!! In other words. Everyone that you meet is an amazing person and so are you so treat others properly, and also hold your head up eye because you are amazing. The second point (and those reading this who went to the Family Life Conference or heard the talks there described will have heard this.) was: I'M ALL IN. It's also Michael's theme for the year. Going into details, basically being ALL IN means giving everything to God, everything to the faith. All in all it was an impacting day/night.

Well, that's all for now! ;)Prince Rillianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06704687575506560687noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487267871591767423.post-61438198325022174422011-10-13T10:07:00.000-06:002011-10-13T10:07:13.044-06:00I’m Back V1092253782 (or around there abouts)
Well, I’ve missed um well um let’s just say a lot of days... And this time I don’t think I have any excuse... Oh here’s one...no wait it’s not November...Oh! No that won’t work either.... Ah-ha! My excuse is I haven’t been blogging or moderating comments because I am to darn lazy.

...Anyway, in this post I shall be - besides apologizing for my laziness - discussing modern "art".

if you go to a modern art gallery, you must be really careful as you might hang your coat on an exhibit or wipe your boots one as well. That’s because both coat hooks and welcome mats are commonly used in modern art. Also, if you blindfold yourself and throw paint at a wall, that’s art. I propose a change from this. Make the criteria for art be something that the normal person can’t do. I can throw paint at a wall blindfolded. Not art. I can throw trash on the ground. Not art. I cannot sculpt a statue that looks just like King David. Art!

And now more light-heartedly (if such a thing is possible)
Cat Herding. (I bet that both Queen Lucy and Anne Therese are laughing right now without watching the video.)
Everyone knows what Latin is. Most know Pig Latin (or should I say Ostmay owknay Igpay Atinlay) But Dog Latin is an unfamiliar concept to most. The best way to describe it is Fake Latin. The fundamental rule for Dog Latin is it has to sound like Latin and sound like what you want it to mean. An example:
First, two similar Latin* phrases and their translations Veritas Vos Liberabit (the truth shall set you free) and Veritas Vos Liberabbit (The truth shall free the rabbits) There, now that that is out of the way I shall talk about recent events. Just yesterday, I got back from Youth 4 Truth. A Catholic Homeschooling Teen Retreat organized by some friends of mine. I went last year as well. Last year, I knew most of the people at the retreat by the end. This year I knew everyone. There were sixty of us. It took place from Tuesday to Thursday at the Mount St. Francis Retreat Center in Cochraine. There was adoration, confession, daily mass, (which I helped do the music for) praise & worship songs, (which I helped do the music for) talks, and testimonies from those who were at World Youth Day. Also, there was quite a bit of free time. During the free time we played: Ultimate Frisbee, Mao, (a card game where the only rule you can tell people about is this one) King, (or King and assassin (supposedly a medieval game, it is kind of like a walk-around version of chess)) and of course *drum roll* Garbage Ball! In addition to playing Garbage Ball, there was a garbage ball sportsmanship award. All in all, Youth 4 Truth 2011 was a blastPrince Rillianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06704687575506560687noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487267871591767423.post-31921611574809646302011-08-30T07:31:00.001-06:002011-08-30T07:31:03.539-06:00Back Again (even shorter)Well, we got back yesterday. Now, I’m going to a Catholic homeschooling youth conference called Youth For Truth. I’ll be back on Thursday. Then, I should be back to my regular posts.Prince Rillianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06704687575506560687noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-487267871591767423.post-6975410845393951412011-08-21T19:54:00.000-06:002011-08-21T19:54:20.179-06:00I’m Back (Shortly)Well, I’m back from Arcatheos (for those of you who didn’t know I’d left all I can say is: oops) I was supposed to be gone for twelve days starting on the twenty-eighth of July and ending on the eighth of this month. However, my family sprung a vacation on me. I went to Regina for a couple days and then South into North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Montana. (In that order and with the majority of the time spent in South Dakota.) I’m back just in time to announce my departure for reading camp in a couple days. To make up for my extended absence and my absence that is fast approaching, I offer as a peace gift another poem from the ever-wonderful Anne Therese. Oh one more thing. While I was away, some costume pieces I ordered arrived in the mail. I’ll try to find some time to post pictures.
