I'm Back!

I got back from my cruise yesterday night.  Originally, I was supposed to get back at 9:00 P.M, but the plane we took from Fort Lauderdale to Toronto was delayed by one-and-a-half hours.  As result of that, we missed our flight from Toronto to Edmonton, and had to catch a later flight at 9:00 that got in at midnight.  Besides all that, it was terrific.  We had daily mass at 5:00 everyday.  and at 9:00 every night there was a man named Mark Farris who played in the piano bar.  He was amazing.  He could remember everyone's name and where they were from and what they did for a living and he was also an amazing piano player.  his website is: http://MarkFarris.com  Go check it out.  I'll describe the trip in more detail when I get the pictures uploaded.

It's that time of week again!  Time for Sunday Snippets.  Here's a couple (most) of my posts for the week:

Straight No Chaser
Feast of the Immaculate Conception
Voyage of the Dawn Treader Release Date

Unfortunately, I am going to miss next weeks Sunday Snippets because I'm leaving for a plane to Florida for a 10 day cruise in 30 minutes.  I'll post the pictures of the cruise, pictures of the parade I was in last week, and the video of my musical theatre performance last Wednesday when I get back

Edmonton Musical Theatre Again.

I just got back from my semester ending performance for my musical theatre.  Each person in my class performed a solo or a skit.  I sang Bring Him Home from Les Mis.  I got it perfect! (mostly)  It was quite a lot of fun.  At the end, there were snacks.   Because of this, I am extremely hyper so this is all I can think of for now.  P.S The videoes will be up tomorrow (hopefully)

Feast of the Immaculate Conception!!!!!

It is the feast of the Immaculate Conception today!   It is a holy day of obligation down in the states and over  in Ireland.  Unfortunately, it isn't a day of obligation up here in the cold north of Canada.  In honour of today, I am going to post the readings for this wonderful feast.

Reading 1
After the man, Adam, had eaten of the tree,
the LORD God called to the man and asked him, “Where are you?”
He answered, “I heard you in the garden;
but I was afraid, because I was naked,
so I hid myself.”
Then he asked, “Who told you that you were naked?
You have eaten, then,
from the tree of which I had forbidden you to eat!”
The man replied, “The woman whom you put here with meC
she gave me fruit from the tree, and so I ate it.”
The LORD God then asked the woman,
“Why did you do such a thing?”
The woman answered, “The serpent tricked me into it, so I ate it.”
Then the LORD God said to the serpent:
“Because you have done this, you shall be banned
from all the animals
and from all the wild creatures;
on your belly shall you crawl,
and dirt shall you eat
all the days of your life.
I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and hers;
he will strike at your head,
while you strike at his heel.”
The man called his wife Eve,
because she became the mother of all the living.

Responsorial Psalm
R. (1) Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous deeds.
Sing to the LORD a new song,
for he has done wondrous deeds;
His right hand has won victory for him,
his holy arm.
R. Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous deeds.
The LORD has made his salvation known:
in the sight of the nations he has revealed his justice.
He has remembered his kindness and his faithfulness
toward the house of Israel.
R. Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous deeds.
All the ends of the earth have seen
the salvation by our God.
Sing joyfully to the LORD, all you lands;
break into song; sing praise.
R. Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous deeds.

Brothers and sisters:
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us in Christ
with every spiritual blessing in the heavens,
as he chose us in him, before the foundation of the world,
to be holy and without blemish before him.
In love he destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ,
in accord with the favor of his will,
for the praise of the glory of his grace
that he granted us in the beloved.
In him we were also chosen,
destined in accord with the purpose of the One
who accomplishes all things according to the intention of his will,
so that we might exist for the praise of his glory,
we who first hoped in Christ.

The angel Gabriel was sent from God
to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph,
of the house of David,
and the virgin’s name was Mary.
And coming to her, he said,
“Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you.”
But she was greatly troubled at what was said
and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.
Then the angel said to her,
“Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his Kingdom there will be no end.”
But Mary said to the angel,
“How can this be,
since I have no relations with a man?”
And the angel said to her in reply,
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,
has also conceived a son in her old age,
and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
for nothing will be impossible for God.”
Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word.”
Then the angel departed from her.

(P.S. I got the readings from The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops)

Have a happy and blessed feast!

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader to be released on the tenth!

Yes, that's right, the Voyage of the Dawn Treader is going to be released in canada on the tenth of this month!  It isn't the best date for release which is the second of December (in Australia, Hong Kong, and Singapore)  but it also isn't the worst, February twenty-fifth. (In Japan)  Since it's being released so soon (or in the case of Japan late)  I thought that I would catch up on what I missed and post some trailers.

There you go.  Enjoy!

Jingle On Parade

Well, I unfortunately don't have any pictures of my costume for the Santa Claus Parade I was in today.  I might get one on Wednesday.  As a sort of consolation prize, here's the one picture I could find of our group on the internet.  It is from the Edmonton Journal website

Just my luck, the one picture of my group I can find doesn't work.  Oh well.

Sunday Snippets

Well, I unfortunately don't have all that many posts this week.  So here's the posts I've made:

December 1st!!!!
Edmonton Musical Theatre
My problems with "Do You Hear What I Hear?"

None of these are really good posts, but I've been extra busy this week. (Wow, a week of poor posting that has an excuse!)

My problems with "Do You Hear What I Hear?"

Here's a post that I had meant to post on Monday.  The reason why I didn't was, my computer jammed up, and when I started it up again, I didn't want to have to rewrite it over again.  Just today I realized that it was saved so here it is. (P.S Thank you Queen Lucy for informing me of my spelling mistakes)

I was listening to the radio a couple minutes ago, while wondering whether I should post anything today, and if I should whether it should be funny or serious.  While I was doing all this wondering, "Do You Hear What I Hear?" started to play.  It was then that I realized what a strange song it is.  In the second verse, a shepherd boy listens to a sheep.  He then in the third verse tells the mighty king what the sheep told him, and says that "A child, a child shivers in the COLD, Let us bring him SILVER and GOLD"  What I want to know is, why gold?  Why not a blanket? Or maybe, some hot food.  Nope, the poor freezing cold child gets gold.

Edmonton Musical Theatre

Well, I was looking through my previous posts, and I saw one where I mentioned that Edmonton Musical Theatre has a parade float in the jingle on parade in two days.  While I was reading the post, I noticed that I completely forgot to mention that I'm in the parade float.  The theme of the float is "Christmas Movies" so there are people playing charcters from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." "Frosty the Snowman" "A Charlie Brown Christmas" "The Polar Express" and "A Christmas Carol" I'm playing the ghost of Jacob Marley.  My costume includes a bunch of chains, some black, white, and green facepaint, and a suit.  I'll probably put the picture up on Sunday.

December 1st!!!!

Well, it's December already.  I feels like just yesterday it was November (Ba-dum Ching)  Anyway, it still feels like Summer to me, except when I step outside into -7 C or look outside at 4:00 and see the sun set.  Other than that, it feels like it should still be Summer.  It seems like it was only one or two days ago that I said that the first time to one of my friends, not one entire year ago.  Well, as they say, "Time flies like an arrow" (Fruit flies like a banana (Ba-dum Ching))
