When things don't always go the way we think they should, we sometimes give up on them. So it was with these disciples. They thought that Jesus had come to defeat the Romans and restore the Jews to their rightful possessions. When Jesus died they were confused. No doubt they were thinking, "If he was God then why would he have let himself die on a cross like a criminal?" Sometimes we think somewhat the same thing. We ask, "How can there be a God if ____" Sometimes this even happens unconsciously. We aren't even aware of thinking it. When this does happen, the best thing to do is to turn to God and ask him. He will usually give an answer as he does to the two disciples on the road.

Reflection 8/5/11
How many times to we see God as just another traveller on the road? How many times are we blind to his presence beside us on our journey. These are questions we should try to ask ourselves daily.
